Who are we?

We are the Wharton County chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.  We are a small but enthusiastic group of people who love airplanes.  Some of us own modern aircraft, some fly antique aircraft, some have built and own experimental aircraft, and some of us just like to be around flying machines.

Welcome!

EAA Chapter 896 welcomes the River Bend Squadron of the CAF to the Wharton Regional Airport.  The squadron has acquired a hangar at the airport, and is making plans for restorations and airshows!  Click here to visit their web page.

Monthly Meetings

The Chapter regular meeting is scheduled for the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Wharton Regional Airport (5R5), Wharton, Texas.  Click here for current meeting information.

WhartonKosh

For many years EAA Chapter 896 put on a one-day Fly-In at the Wharton Regional Airport.  The Fly-In attracted pilots and non-pilots from all over Texas, and even some from out-of-state.  The annual gathering gave airplane lovers a chance to show off their airplanes, and to look at others’ airplanes.  The WhartonKosh Fly-In is no longer being held, but you can see some pictures of past fly-ins in the Photo Album section.

Scholarships

Through The Speck & Vel Morgan Memorial Scholarship, Chapter 896 has given over $10,000 to support students enrolled in aviation-related programs.  Click here for more information.
